Centre's latest technology and hospital expertises

The latest technology backed by teaching hospital expertise helps us provide a range of complex cardiac MRI investigations. Cardiac MRI is a non-invasive scan which - combined with contrast - can provide highly detailed and valuable studies of the heart.

Our centre can also provide MRI scans for a whole range of other conditions including Neurology and Orthopaedics but the key focus at Wythenshawe is on our Cardiac expertise. Cardiologists are increasingly using Cardiac MRI for a range of investigations.

We also offer advanced CT Scanning using a CANON Aquilion one Vision which allows for a fast and detailed examination with the best image quality.   Our CT scanner is able to scan entire organs in a single rotation, avoiding step artefact or the need to ‘stitch’ images together, often leading to obscured images.
One rotation scanning makes cardiac imaging suitable for a wider group of patients, including those with irregular heart rhythm and those with metal implants (pacemaker wires) something no other CT scanner provides.

The ability to image organ functions, including blood flow to the brain and heart. Its ability to perform high-quality cerebral and cardiac angiography is invaluable in the diagnosis of stenosis, malformations and aneurysms.

The extra-wide space and 315kg patient couch capacity ensures a comfortable examination for all patients.
